What is your feed rate here? If your laser is that powerful then you need to pick up the speed as far as the hardware limitations of your machine will allow you to. If you’re charring the wood at level 8 out of 255 then your laser may not even handle pwm input at all. A level of 255 is equal to 5v on Arduino so that means 51 power levels per 1 volt. A power level of 8 is only equal to less than .2 volts then! If you want to try something that may improve your results without much effort then try running the PWM output from Marlin through a resistor voltage divider that’ll bring it down to the low levels you need. This way you’ll get the full 255 step resolution from the Arduino PWM pin scaled down to a much lower level. Truthfully, I doubt it’ll work though because something just doesn’t seem right about your firmware/hardware set-up.
