x, y axis order

    should the steppers for y-axis be above or below the steppers for x-axis?
    or does it not matter?

    It doesn’t matter. If you get the x and y backwards, then the cuts will just be rotate 90 degrees and your origin moves.

    sorry, it has nothing to do with the board or wiring – it’s the construction. one pair of steppers is on the high rails and the other pair is on the lower rails.
    I don’t think it matters, but I wanted to ask.

    Okay, I understand just wanted to make sure we were on the same page.
    It does not matter at all. I would just match the axis direction to whatever your screen looks like for your cam software. Usually x positive moves right, Y positive moves away.
