My submission. Literally the first movements of my MPCNC. This was before my machine was tightened but it still needs some work to get it up and running.

Whew… a year later and I have made some progress. I’ve been putting this offer as I work full time, handle a 3 year old son, and go back to school. Finally put my foot down and stayed up til 2am to get this far. I was tired of the partially assembled parts laying around. Still needs belts and a full base (hence the extra length of pipe extending…[Read more]

  • That looks great but I have to ask:

What are you cutting with? It looks like a “V” bit for a router.

  • My advice is don’t stop building! I bought the hardware 2 years ago and got half of it built last year. I have the electronics together and have tested them but have yet to put it all together. Family, work, school, house, other projects ect.. all take their toll on what we really want to do…

I would think ganging together a few pieces of pipe might work. see this Thiniverse entry for an idea of joining the pipes together.

Finally tested my electronics and everything appears to work!

    Hello,
I asked a similar question a little while back and here’s what I got from it:

    1) Kiri:moto is a SLICER tool – it can help to visualize, align, and slice model(s)

    2) Thingiverse integration is useful if away from main computer, and the price is right (FREE!)

    3) Exported file must then be sent through a G-code sender, like…[Read more]

  • It just occurred to me that the MPCNC should be easy to adapt to make a router sled for planing wood with. (see picture below)

I’d imagine the frame would be rectangular and the gantry would just need to span across one way and allow the router to move back and forth a short distance.
I’m also thinking the feet could be mounted to allow for…[Read more]

  • 42/44 printed. I plan to start cutting my pipe this weekend. Also, I’ll be printing the universal tool mount and then attachments before finishing assembly!

The aluminum plate of the Printrbot seems to be cold in my basement shop. A little shimming and taping a layer as it goes I got it to print. I’ll have to look into investing into a heated bed for the future. I’m going to try using a hairdryer if I have any more issues.

Thanks to everyone for your comments.

Thanks for the offer. I’m in the Pittsburgh area (15237). Looks like you are a little far away from your pictures and we would have to snail mail each other.

I’m just hoping the “cut” XYZ will hold together enough to print out a new set. I also only printed at 20% infill to speed things up and I am anticipating the need to re-print piece as they…[Read more]

  • Work In Progress.

I only have the XYZ pieces left to print. My modified Printrbot has done well but is still a little small for these two. I’m hoping to cut the models and reprint once my build is complete. Aiming for a 24″ x 24″ x 10″ build volume.

Purchased kit has been really easy to assemble with my printed parts so far.

Thanks for the tips, no heated bed yet and I have tried hairspray before but never had any good results. I’ll pick up a glue stick and give that a try.
(I am also going to check how level the bed is again)

I am printing on green painters tape (frog tape) and had good results so far.

I think I just need to adjust the temp. as I watched a raft…[Read more]

  • I am trying to print off the XY and XYZ parts with a modified printrbot(X axis has been upgraded). I have the build plated as level as I could manage and printed a few test pieces before I left the XY to print on it’s own. I came home form work to find the mess printed below. I watched the print a second time and noticed the edges curl and…[Read more]

  • I just finished printing my 4 Roller parts. However, I noticed I did not print the RollerM piece and all 4 are the Roller (not mirrored).

Will this be a problem? It looks like the center spacing of material (inside where the bearings are housed) is the only difference between the two.

Should I print the RollerM pieces or should I move forward…[Read more]

  • Printing status: 21/44 printed
Currently printing: printrbot 1405 x table extension
Hardware kit is still sitting in its box after I inspected the contents.

  • This looks interesting and I’d like to try it out.
